The Protection of Wildlife and Protected areas Law – 1994


The Protection of Wildlife and Protected areas Law was enacted on 8th June, 1994 by the State Law and Order Restoration Council with the aims to implement the government policy for wildlife protection and natural areas conservation, to carry out the protection and conservation of wildlife, ecosystems and migratory birds with the International Conventions acceded by the State, to protect endangered species of wildlife and their natural habitats, to contribute for the development of research on natural science and to establish zoological and botanical gardens for the protection of wildlife. 

This law of Protection of Wildlife and Protected areas consisted 12 chapters and 48 sections including the administrative actions, offences and penalties regarding the violations.
