Overexploitation of Groundwater and Consequence in Greater Yangon

​This presentation is presented by Daw Than Than Soe and written by U Myint Thein, an advisory member of National Water Resources Committee (NWRC) during World Water Day 2019 in Nay Pyi Taw.

The presentation pointed out -

(1) In Yangon, There are no outstanding of Marine Clay especially in city downtown (metropolitan) area as like Bangkok wide area
(2) Reference to Geotechnical Investigation reports (soil logs) and excavation seen but it is small area compared to township area.
(3) Groundwater management is 44 years behind Thailand (Bangkok) and is 70 years behind India; It is time to act Groundwater Law.
