9 August 18 - In order to safely travel of vessels along Mandalay-Nyaung U waterway, advanced navigation aids will be installed in the last week of August according to Department of Water Resources and Improvement of Rive System.

The Ayeyawaddy Integrated Basin Managemnt Project Consultation (AIRBM) will be carried out with World Bank loan of US $ 100 million. The 200 meter long Mandalay-Nyaung U waterway will be implemented by using more than US $ 30 million loan granted by World Bank.

"The current installed navigation machines are locally produced and it can be seen only in day time. Now, we are going to install light buoys and land marks. Vessels couldn't use this waterway during day time and so after installing advanced navigation aids, vessels can go day or night time safely. We will also install lights at bridges. The entrance light will be green and stop light will be red," said Aung Myo Khine, Project Director of Department of Water Resources and Improvement of Rive System.
