Summary of Ecosystem Services Training in Irrigation Technology Center


Training workshop is about Ecosystem Functions and Services in Integrated Water Resources Management. It was 5-days training from 25 to 29 June in Irrigation Technology Center (ITC), Bago. Global Water Partnership Southeast Asia (GWP-SEA), Irrigation Water Utilization Management Development (IWUMD) and Myanmar Water Partnership organized this workshop. As for the lecturers two resource persons are coming from UNESCO IHE Delft with support provided by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency. Three resource persons are coming from WWF Myanmar with their support. Stockholm Environmental Institute (SEI), Myanmar Environmental Institute (MEI), are supported by their respective organizations. The participants are from 17 organizations total about 36 person.

Participants did teamwork activity, case studies, problem analysis, multi-criteria analysis, stakeholder analysis and furthermore, presentations skills, debating, critical solving were applied during the discussions. Each module contains dynamic learning stuffs such as assigning role play, drawing, note-taking and exchanging experience.

On 4th day of training course, field trip to Nga Moe Yeik was one of modules of training course led by Michael Spolum from Natel Energy and WWF Myanmar.

On final day, participants presented ideas and thoughts about field trips and case studies based on ecosystem services and integrated water resource management.
