Rivers may swell pass danger levels during July

​2 July 18 - During the month of July, water level in 12 Rivers may swell well over danger levels according to Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH).

Chindwin River during July exceed dangerous water level once in Khamti, Homalin, Phaungpyin, Mawleik, Kalaywa, Minkin, kani and Monywa. Ayeyawaddy River water rising beyond the danger level once in Bhamaw, Shweku, Kathar, Thabeik Kyin, Mandalay, Sagaing, Myinmu, Pakkoku, Nyaung Oo, Minbu, Magway, Aunglan, Pyi, Seikthar, Hinthada, and Zalun once while Dothtawady River water level may overflow once in Myit Nge.

Sittaung River water level may go over at Taungoo, and Madauk, Shwekyin River water level in Shwekyin and Bago River in Bago once each. Thanlwin River water level may over at Hpa an, Ngawon river water in Nga Thing Chaung, Thar Paung and pathein, Toe River in Ma U Bin, Kalardan River in Kyauk Taw and lay Myo River in Myauk Oo.

"There may be low pressure area in Bay of Bengal and increase of rain. There will be increase of rain in Rakhine, Chin, upper Sagaing and Chindwin River may increase water level," said Chit Kyaw, an expert from DMH.

Due to heavy rain since June first week, flooding occurred insome states and regions while 440000 became flood victims since the data collected till June 19, and 18 dead according to Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement.
