The Township Rural Development Department has implemented the earthen lake construction project to supply drinking water to some 125 households in the summer.

The project will directly benefit some 700 residents in Hsihsongon Village, Taungtha Township, Mandalay Region, which is located in the central arid zone and faces water shortage annually, especially in the summer season.
The department spent Ks8 million for the project, funded by the Mandalay Region government from its 2017-2018 financial year's budget.
U Aung Kyi Myint, head of the department, said the 100×6 feet wide earthen lake is expected to augment the water supply for humans and animals in the village and nearby areas.
