​Myanmar- Netherlands Water Challenge 2018

Myanmar-Netherlands Water Challenge 2018 was announced in January 18, 2018. It is an inspiring program focusing on future water leadership- Young Professionals. It is important for young people to understand the importance of water in the future of Myanmar. From this challenge, students are able to learn about the challenges and opportunities of the Ayeyarwady Delta and get motivation to create their own ideas and solutions.

In 2016, Under the theme SMART DELTA, the program engages students and young professionals in Myanmar with the challenges of sustainable delta development. After rewinding a short video of the first edition: Smart Delta, themes of the second edition Myanmar-Netherlands Water Challenge was introduced: Smart Port and Water in the city (Htee City) as the second edition themes. The Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Professors from Yangon Technological University and Myanmar Maritime University signed the Water in the city and Smart Port banner together and officially launched second topic of Myanmar-Netherlands Water Challenge 2018.
Smart Delta was the topic of the first edition- in which more than 30 students participated of 9 local universities in 2016. Campus Program and Delta Academy were included in the first edition as a two half-day, on campus programs and an intensive 3-day program.

The Myanmar Netherlands Water Challenge is a good example of how universities and private sector can work together, combining their experience and expertise to the benefit of society and future generations.
