India and Myanmar have agreed to work towards the operationalisation of Sittwe port in Rakhine state in the first quarter of 2021, APN news reported.

The announcement came from a press release issued by India's Ministry of External Affairs after the conclusion of a two-day long visit of India's Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General M M Naravane and Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla to Myanmar from 4-5 October.

Both sides also agreed to further strengthen their partnership in connectivity projects, capacity building, power and energy.
