There was an opening ceremony of Myanmar Engineering Congress on 24 November at the presence of guest of honor, U Zaw Aye Maung, Yangon Region Minister for Rakhine Ethnic Affairs. The Congress was hosted by Myanmar Engineering Society (MES) and was also a platform for professionals and engineers to share their expertise on wastewater treatment and opinions of how Myanmar can endorse law enforcement on waste disposal of industries. One interesting presentation was "Industrial Pollution Control" by U Khin Maung Win, Managing Director of Myanmar Water Engineering & Products Co., Ltd (MWEP), which is the first leading company in Myanmar, formed by a global network of professionals in water and wastewater engineering. He gave a comprehensive and insightful explanation of industrial wastewater treatment process starting from environmental constraints and to waste related legislation to sustainable development goals.
