29 JUN 2020 - Source: Global New Light of Myanmar - Sagaing Region Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Kham Zar Mone said they are implementing a 4-year plan to reclaim terrace farms on 293 acres in Naga Self-Administered Zone, from 2019-2020 to 2022-2023 financial year, using Slopping Agricultural Land Technology.

The Minister said the people of Naga region use nomadic farming techniques that damages forests and can cause a loss of topsoil in the long run that will make farming more difficult.

He said this plan aims to form a modern stepped farm system that will make farming possible for a longer time and keep the region lush and green. The Sagaing Region government has funded 36 acres as pilot farmlands from 2017-2018 financial year to this day. — Win Oo (Zayar Tine) (Translated by Zaw Htet Oo)
