Wrap Up of "Flow Together" Event

The event, named "Flow Together", was initiated by Local Port Design and Consultancy company - Think Maritime Co., Ltd. and co-organized with the Netherlands company - The Water Agency. The main intention is to gather MMU graduated working professionals from Port and Harbor and River and Coastal major. The main theme is to share knowledge and opportunities among young professionals. The event was organized into three main agenda: 

  1. Technical and opportunities, Knowledge sharing session
  2. Open Mic session
  3. Group discussion.

First technical and opportunities sharing session was started by Mr. Aung Phyo Kyaw, Lead Consultant of Think Maritime, about joining PIANC, "The World Association for Waterborne Transport Infrastructure". PIANC organization was introduced and PIANC's focused on Young Professionals were also presented. PIANC's main commissions such as InCom (Inland), MarCom (Maritime), RecCom (Recreational), EnviCom (Environmental), CoCom (Int'l Co-operation and relations) and YPcom (Young Professionals Commission). YPcom activities and opportunities for Young Professionals by joining YP were presented in details.

Then, Mr. Win Maw Han, representing the Netherlands Embassy, presented the opportunities to study in Holland, Nuffic and Orange Knowledge Program.

Dr. Nyein Zin Latt from Port & Harbor Department of MMU presented about "Development of a Vertical Wall-Type Low Reflected Wave Dissipating Structure" which includes the research and development of prototype of Low Reflected Wave Dissipating Structure at MMU wave laboratory.

Dr. Toe Toe Aung from Port & Harbor Department of MMU presented about updated information about Port and Harbor Department activities including Research and Development activities.

Group discussion on the subject of "Better Maritime in Myanmar" was conducted. Four questions regarding on this topic were discussed in 5 groups. After group discussions, the results were shared with the participants. Aim of group discussion is to make the professionals (cross batches) more familiar to each other so that they can exchange their knowledge, opinions. Hopefully, they will continue their relationships after the event.

Total 35 participants enjoyed the event at Yangon Innovation Center on 07th September 2019. Next event shall be organized by Think Maritime again and the exact time is yet to be confirmed.
