These are the assignments of communication training at Myanmar Maritime University. The lectures were delivered to undergraduate students who are attending the specialization course of River & Coastal Engineering. The training is focused on writing and storytelling to improve communication in their future career.

These minimum 200-words assignments are displayed their thoughts and ideal plans for their future, how it looks like and why they chose to attend Myanmar Maritime University.

My Future Career
University is the first place to start my journey. I have a big plan to walk my future journey after graduation. As a River and Coastal Engineering student, I want to work under my department (DWIR). Some people want to choose a good job with high salary but I do not want it because I choose this plan for my future as my hobby. I want to go to the area which is badly faced with the river's erosions and pollutions. I want to help as much as I can for those areas. My future journey will not like others.

I also interested in Water Science and Technology. And I also want to do many projects which deal with my interesting subjects. I have a plan to get the scholarships of abroad universities. If I have I chance to study at abroad universities, I will choose the subject deals with Water Science and Technology. And I will try my best to serve my country which is faced with water pollutions and many river pollutions. With all of my strength, I will do for my country to become a beautiful and developing county. This is all of my future plans for my future journey.

Why did you choose to attend Myanmar Maritime University?
Myanmar has many universities. For example,Thanlyin Technology Univeesity, Uniiversity of Medicine,Myanmar Maritime University and so on. Among then, I chose to attend MMU because it is ohly one of the university in Myanmar. It has many chances to work in abroad and we can getmany salaries. So I attendedthat university. Many things about university make mre interest. There is only one in Myanmar. Uniform is more distinct than otrer universities. That point makes me more interesting. If you graduate from this university, you will get simply good salary. Generically, we learn 6 subjects to 9 subjects. Most subjects are interesting . Mathematics makes me interesting . We learn Mathematics first yearstothird years. If we learned well about Mathematics,we would work treatable about calculation. We learned about differentiate , integrate. So I interested Mathematics than other subjects. For these reasons, Ichose to attend Myanmar Maritime University.

What my Future Journey looks like
I think My Future Journey Is Exciting?. As I am interested in this major, I will try my best to become a specialist. And I will Study My Master Degree with Scholar at Japan and Join in a Big Company.

I will Make My carrier more meaningful by leaning a lot about the work and earn a lot of money.

I will Try My Best to be a proficient engineer. And Finally, I will build my own company and Work With skillful engineers and connects it internationally and then to become a top 5 company in the world. I have a wish to meet my BTS Idols At Korea. So if I have a chance to go to their concert, I will surely meet them. Lastly, I will make My parents feel proud of giving birth to me.

When I passed the matriculation exam, my mom asked me what I would like to choose the engineering line or medical line. Actually, I don't like both of them. Especially, I really hate to be a doctor. My real big dream is to be a fashion designer. For an interior designer, it's ok. But my mom wants me to graduate like a doctor, engineer like Myanmar parents' custom. So I choose to join the engineering line. But my results is low.so I cannot join YTU.To be honest, I didn't choose to attend MMU. My mom wants me to be an engineer .so I choose this university. Actually, I'm not interested in the subjects I learned in 1st year but, when I'm at 2nd year I fond of drawing the subject. I am willing to do creations. I think drawing is just like creation. And I think it would be the best subject for me. And also I'm excited about new subjects in the coming years, I wish they would become my favorite subjects. I suppose I used to be an engineer one day although I'm not currently ready.

Importance of River and Coastal Engineering
Economy of our country is mainly based on Agriculture. We require water to supply fields. To get sufficient water for successful agriculture, we build dams and reservoirs across rivers flowing through the country. Electricity is also derived from hydropower plants. And also inland water transport is very important as bulk goods can be carried. In order to utilize rivers as humans desire, we must understand the nature of rivers and how to control them with a minimum negative impact on the natural environment with the help of river engineering.

Myanmar has a long coastline stretching 1930 kilometres. Along that coastline, we have many areas on which ports can be developed. Ports can be a great help to the economy of the country. There are also sandy beaches for tourism. If we want to build ports or use islands, we must know the knowledge of waves, tides, and climates. Coastal engineering is crucial to design, construct and maintain coastal structures.

Why did you choose to attend Myanmar Maritime University?
I want to attend MMU because I want to be a good engineer. There are seven majors in MMU.

I 'm interested in River and coastal engineering and join that major. At my first year, I think this major is boring and useless. I 'm afraid not to get the job after the academic year. My teachers and seniors will explain difficulties and doubts.N ow we have many opportunities for RC students in the job. The major subjects are complicated at 4th year how to solve the problems? Need more study and ask to the teacher. The subjects are very difficult but timber is the most.

I liked the coastal subject most and the second Structure these are most fascinating. Since my second year, I 'm interested in Drawing, this is just the minor subject.

Why do you think River and Coastal Engineering is important?
Before starting my thoughts about why river and coastal Engineering is important, let me introduce first what river and coastal Engineering is.

In general, river and coastal engineering is the study of rivers and coasts in engineering sense and their effects to the environment. It is not just about the study of rivers and coasts but water resources and anything related to water are included. We also have to learn the interrelation between water resources and the environment and also social actions.

Fundamental subjects are based on civil engineering and as well as river and coastal engineering. So, it can be said that River and coastal engineering students have to put double extra work than civil engineering.

What makes river and coastal engineering a difficult but very important subject is that it deals with nature. Nature means unpredictable creature. We cannot estimate a river or coast behaviour exactly. It means we cannot predict the risks and danger that will come, and so, we can't prevent them fully. To deal with uncertainties, river and coastal engineers have to study a lot and also varied fields.

All aspects must be covered; from construction engineering and design, to the socio-economic impact. The projects are very complex. Some examples are river bank protection, river widening and deepening, dredging projects for navigation purposes, river regulation works, hydropower, river waterfront development and rehabilitation of natural flood plains and river habitats. Above examples are just for the part 'River'.

For 'Coast ' , there are projects such as coastal protection, offshore land reclamation, beach nourishment by dredging, closure of estuaries or lagoons, breakwaters, ports, access channels and coastal waterfront development. This engineering also deals with how to solve natural disaster like 'Flood'.

Water is priceless but it is also the one people mostly forget its value. So, water is being wasted so easily, especially in Myanmar. It is very urgent and important to maintain and conserve water. Our country is facing many water related problems. So, River and coastal engineers are needful right now and they have a lot duties and responsibilities to solve these problems. So, I think River and Coastal Engineering is very important.

Why I choose to attend Myanmar Maritime University

I choose to attend Myanmar Maritime University because of my friends. When I pass the exam,Ididn't know how university I would attend.I didn't know even Myanmar Maritime University. My friends told that they will attend to Myanmar Maritime University and they were suggested.So,I decided to attend MMU.

Nowadays, our country faces the problems of water.There are many regions in Myanmar that are lacks of freshwater in the hot season.In this season, they have even no drinking water. Lacking drinking water causes the problem to daily life.

But some places cause feel the effect of flooding water. Days of heavy monsoon rain and dangerously high river levels have forced to many people from their homes. Farmer are facing many problems.In some places,there are problems with rivers such that flooding, changing of water morphology, widening of water width,etc.

In Myanmar Maritime University, I'm interested in River and coastal engineering. This is also a branch of civil engineering. So ,I choose to attend Myanmar Maritime University.
