Inter-village bridge commissioned in Kyauktaga Township, Bago Region
3 June 19 - Source: Global New Light Of Myanmar - Yantola, a bridge for inter village transport, was commissioned yesterday morning in Kyeyoe village-tract, Kyauktaga Township, Bago Region.
Built with the funds of the National Disaster Management Committee, the bridge was put into service by Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Win Myat Aye, Deputy Speaker of Region Hluttaw U Kyi Zin and Minister for Kayin Ethnic Affairs Daw Naw Pwal Hsay.
Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister Dr Win Myat Aye said, "The bridge will benefit over 20 villages in the area, and will also facilitate the commodity flow and help develop the health, education and socio-economy of the area.
The bridge stands as one of the best results produced by the cooperative efforts of the Union Government, the Region Government, the MP and the people, he lauded.
"Thanks to the cooperation of the local people, funds of National Disaster Management Committee and the support of the Region Government, the bridge could be erected amidst the many hardships," he said.
"Transport is of vital importance for the rural people which account for 70 percent of the nation's population and who rely on agriculture," he said. Region MP spoke words of thanks, followed by a documentary photo session.
The bridge was built at a cost of K 62 million – National Disaster Management Committee contributed K 57 million and Babo Region Government, K 5 million.In the afternoon, the Union Minister and team met with childcare undertakers and parents of Nyaunglebin Township at the town hall.
At the meeting, the Union Minister elaborated on the ministry's provision of social care and protection for every individual throughout his life for his survival and progress. "The Union is focusing on infant care as today's children will take over the duties of national development in the future," he said, adding, "Infant care is the best investment for the future," he said. "The Ministry is providing financial assistance for mothers till their children reach two years under the Maternal and Child Cash Transfer Program," he said.
Participants presented the requirements in connection with the issuance of national registration cards for children of single mothers, the birth list, and the responsibilities of the Government and the long-term care for children with inborn disabilities. The Union Minister and officials looked into the requirements.Later, the Union Minister and team met civil society organizations and social organizations providing disaster relief aids of Bago, Nyaunglebin, Kyauktaga, DaikU and Pyontazar townships and discussed natural disaster prevention and rehabilitation measures.
Minister for Kayin Ethnic Affairs Naw Pwal Say explained natural disasters occurred in Bago Region and preparations for natural disaster prevention and rehabilitation, and an official the need to take preparatory measures through collective efforts.Participants then discussed the involvement of the Red Cross during the natural disasters, bank erosion, and the practical difficulties in an emergency situation. The Union Minister and officials coordinated arrangements. The Union Minister presented K 3.5 million to dig a pond in Sipin village in Nyaunglaybin Township, and to extend a pond at Ngagyiaing village.
