Ozwater is the Australian Water Association's international water conference and trade exhibition and Australia's premier event on the water calendar. Returning in 2019 to the Melbourne Convention Exhibition Centre, thousands of water professionals from across Australia and internationally will unite in one of the world's most liveable cities to share ideas on the future of water in Australia and overseas. Date: May 6 – 10 2019. (5 days Program)

The Australian Water Association with support from the Australian Water Partnership is pleased to offer 10 scholarship opportunities to Young Water Professionals from across the Indo-Pacific to attend Ozwater'19 at the Melbourne Convention Exhibition Centre, May 6 – 10 2019.
Each scholarship is valued at AUD $4,900 and includes:
  • Attendance at Young Water Professional Program Monday 6 May
  • Attendance at conference sessions & Trade Exhibition (Tues 7 May - Thurs 9 May)
  • Attendance at keynote sessions on Wednesday 8 May
  • Attendance at Ozwater'19 Gala Dinner on the international YWP table
  • Participation in a selected Site tour on Friday 10 May
  • Morning Tea, Lunch & Afternoon Tea (Monday 6 May, Tues 7 May & Wed 8 May)
  • Morning Tea & Lunch (Thurs 9 May)
  • Attendance at Happy Hour in the exhibition hall on Tuesday 7 May
  • Access to full papers and e-Posters (available to download online)
  • Satchel including Program Book
  • Flights, accommodation and meals up to the value of AUD$3,000 (flights and accommodation to paid for and per diems to be issued upon arrival, AWA is not responsible for payment of Visas*)

Each scholarship recipient will be required to attend the following activities:

  • ​Young Water Professionals Program (see attached program) Monday 6 May
  • Vietnam – Australia Water Utility Improvement Program workshop Tuesday 7 May
  • Meet and Greet with Australian Government representatives on Wednesday 8 May
  • Attendance at YWP international network workshop Thursday 9 May
  • Site tour to Melbourne Water treatment plant Friday 10 May

The site tours you can select from include a visit to Yarra Valley Water's Waste to Energy and Organic Resource Recovery Facility a visit to Melbourne Water's Western Treatment Plant or a visit to the Victorian Desalination Plant.​

Selection will be based on individuals who identify as a Young Water Professional (aged 35 years or younger) and can demonstrate:

  • A reason for wanting to attend Ozwater'19.
  • A commitment to continuous learning and career development.
  • Existing connections to advance their own YWP network within their country.
  • English Proficiency.
  • What learnings they hope to take back to their home country from their time at Ozwater'19


During Ozwater'19, scholarship recipients will be asked to take photos and share reflections of their time at Ozwater'19 for later publication and promotion.
