“Saving the Chindwin” Campaign aims to increase public awareness

The aims of this campaign are:
- To raise the awareness of students, youth and local community who live in the Chindwin Basin
- To better understand how to conserve the Chindwin River Basin with the focus on valuing of ecosystem services and maintaining biodiversity in the basin.
A pamphlet of "Saving the Chindwin" campaign, T-shirt, reusable bag includes water and snacks were shared with all participants before the event. A photo gallery of the biodiversity of the Chindwin Basin was displayed. Dr. Myint Naing, Hon. Chief Minister of Sagaing Regional Government (SRG) led the campaign with a welcome remark to the distinguished guests and participants.
This was followed by opening remarks by Dr. Thura Oo, Rector and Dr. Khin Soe Win, Professor/Head of Zoology Department, both from Monywa University. Mr. Myat Min Tun, Assistant Director of DWIR, delivered the closing remarks on behalf of Mr. Bohn Kyaw Sein, Secretary-1 of the CRBO. The event showed a short film on the Chindwin River along with a photo gallery of biodiversity from the Chindwin Basin. The participants joined together in a clean-up of the areas of City hall, Kyauk-Saung jetty and the surrounding boat piers.
