Last week CSIRO supported by eWater, WaterAid, ICEM and HIC, Australian Water Partnership held the final workshop of the Ayeyarwady Basin Exploratory Scenarios initiative. The Scoping study has used the Ayeyarwady SOURCE model to undertake a rapid sensitivity analysis of the Ayeyarwady basin to change, and then worked with government and non-government stakeholders alike to pilot a process of scenario development that will help Myanmar chart a sustainable path for development and conservation in the Ayeyarwady Basin.

The scoping study is a bridging step between the State of the Basin Assessment (SOBA) completed last year, and the development of a river basin master plan that HIC is developing with support from DHI, Mott MacDonald and ICEM. One more small step on the long road to integrated river management for the Ayeyarwady which Myanmar has been pushing for since 2012.

Congratulations to Tira Foran, Nicky Greig, rory hunter, shihab uddin Ahamad for a great workshop and to the guidance and support from our Myanmar colleagues, U Htun lwin Oo, Secretary of the NWRC, and Prof. Dr. Khin-Ni-Ni Thein, leader of the Hydro-Informatics Centre.

There is even some TV-news footage of the event for those who speak Myanmar: https://lnkd.in/fRVAyaD .
